ORANSSI RY: TURKU PRIDE PROUDLY PRESENTS - ALOK VAID-MENON

Turku Pride has the great joy and honour to welcome Alok Vaid-Menon to Finland! Alok is a performance artist, writer, educator, and entertainer. For the past decade Alok has worked with feminist, queer, and trans movements across the world. Their eclectic sense of style, political humor, and poetic challenge to the gender binary have been internationally renowned.

Please join us for an evening of poetry, stand-up comedy, drag, and more. Alok Vaid-Menon will take you on an emotional roller coaster all the way from the personal to the political while they try to figure out answers to questions such as "What feminine part of yourself did you have to destroy in order to survive in this world?", "At what point does femininity become synonymous with apology?" and "Who hurt the people who hurt you?".

Oranssi is accessible for people using a wheelchair and most other aids. The toilets are non-gendered and there is an accessible toilet. We ask you to please avoid strong fragrances, as many of us have asthmatic and allergic symptoms. The performance will be all in English, unfortunately no translation available. No age limit.

Oranssi will be hosting a small-sized coffee and tea sale (vegan friendly), cash only. Please note that there is a no alcohol -policy.
